Residency Programs

CPCRPT - Cancer Prevention & Control Research and Practice Track

Director: Linda Hill, MD, MPH

This ACS funded program is part of the UCSD-SDSU General Preventive Medicine Residency Program. The residents conduct and interpret research on cancer etiology, prevention, and disparities.

Medical Physics Residency Program

Director: Todd Pawlicki, PhD, FAAPM

The objective of this residency program is to provide clinical training in radiation oncology physics within a structured clinical environment. Residents will participate in the clinical physics duties under the supervision of board certified medical physicists. 

Radiation Oncology Residency

Director: Arno J. Mundt, MD

This program is currently ACGME approved for eight residents and has renowned faculty members that serve as mentors through research and teaching. This program provides exceptional training in clinical patient care, radiation oncology procedures, radiation therapy technology, radiobiology, physics and clinical research.

Training Clinical Scientists in Radiological Imaging

Director: Robert Mattrey, MD

This program is designed to train the future generation of clinician-scientists. It is an integrated research and clinical training program that exposes the trainee to approximately 1.5 years of dedicated laboratory research and 3.5 years of clinical experience.

Oncology and Radiology Fellowships

Breast Imaging Radiology Fellowship

Director: Dr. John Einck, MD

This fellowship provides training in all aspects of breast imaging and interventional procedures.

Hematology-Oncology Fellowship

Director: Sanford J. Shattil, MD

This program integrates hematology, oncology, and bone marrow transplantation. Didactic research training is available through the Clinical Research Enhancement through Supplemental Training (CREST K30 Program).

Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship

Dept. of Reproductive Medicine

The fellowship is designed as a shared program between UCSD and Kaiser Permanente. There is mentored research in one of two gynecologic oncology basic science laboratories.

Urologic Oncology Fellowship

Director: Ithaar H. Derweesh, MD

A Society of Urologic Oncology-accredited two-year fellowship in urologic oncology with multidisciplinary and disease-based focus and understanding of urologic oncology. This fellowship will provide training clinical trials techniques and biostatistics.
